About

International Affiliations

ACA has a solid international reputation including formal affiliations with peak registrations bodies in the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Malaysia. Our work with these countries enable us to engage in knowledge transfer, understanding models of care used and developing collective strategies to grow and strengthen the counselling profession in both Australia and on a global basis.

ACA is a founding member of the Asia Pacific Rim Confederation of Counsellors and long standing member of the International Association of Counsellors (IAC). ACA continues to take an active role with Jodie McKenzie, ACA-CEO being the Co-Chair of the Steering Committee for the Counselling and Psychotherapy Association of Commonwealth Nations.

Formal agreements for transportability of international qualifications are in place for Phillippines and Hong Kong at this stage and it continues to remain a strong topic and focus on our international Agenda’s. This is a complex area due to the variances in levels and requirements of the different educational institutions around the world.
