Bio and Qualifications:
Karen Bedford is the author of Body Signals (a card set published by St Luke’s Innovative Resources in 2018). She has a Master’s degree in linguistics and literature, a Diploma of Teaching and a Diploma of Counselling Psychology. Karen taught editing and writing at tertiary level and has been the managing editor at St Luke’s Innovative Resources (now part of Anglicare Victoria) for over 17 years. She has been involved in writing or editing more than 50 strengths-based card sets, picture books and books for counsellors, social workers, educators and managers including The Nature of Strengths, Postcards from Me to You, Anxiety Solutions for Kids, and the seminal book on strengths-based practice The Strengths Approach. Karen is also the author of the book The Uses of Sadness (Allen and Unwin, Sydney). She has facilitated workshops on using strengths-based tools and skills for a wide variety of organisations and has created a therapeutic creative writing program that resulted in the publication of a book of participants’ writing called The Treasure Trove (Open Place, Melbourne).
