Bio and Qualifications:
I am a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and have had the opportunity to present at national, regional, and state conferences on issues related to the LGBTQ+ community. I have earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama and currently work as an Assistant Professor at Barry University in Miami, Florida Throughout my doctoral program, I sought out opportunities to gain competence, training, and mentorship related to LGBT issues in counseling. In the few years, I became a member of ALGBTIC and ALGBTICAL (Alabama’s chapter of ALGBTIC); volunteered at The Center in Las Vegas (an LGBT support centre); presented at ALGBTIC, SACES (Southern Association for Counselor Educators and Supervisors), ALCA (Alabama Counseling Association), and EERA (Eastern Educational Research Association) on LGBT issues; created the first ever LGBT support group at Auburn University Montgomery’s Counseling Center; attended two Safe Zone trainings; participated in an ethics training for counselors working with LGBT clients; served on ALGBTIC’s Graduate Student Committee; wrote a publication for counselors working with gay men, and currently serve as the LGBTQ+ Concerns Chairperson for the Florida Counseling Association.
