Event Details - The use of altered book making with clients - a creative, therapeutic approach
|Title:||The use of altered book making with clients - a creative, therapeutic approach|
|Type of Activity:||Workshops & Seminars|
|Objective of Course / Workshop:||
Non verbal and creative interventions with clients are shown to have many benefits. Making an altered book in a therapeutic context can provide a framework for exploring a variety of themes, experiences and narratives, whilst supporting changes in perspectives and encouraging a sense of agency. For therapists, learning how to facilitate altered book making offers the opportunity for a new way of engaging with clients, which can be a catalyst for further therapeutic work.
|Course / Workshop Outline:||
This one day workshop will enable therapists to creatively experience the process of making an altered book and understand the benefits and uses of facilitating this process with clients. Altered book making can provide clients with a new means of expression, an opportunity to change perspectives and a way to explore difficult emotions and experiences.
The workshop will equip therapists with experience, skills and confidence to adapt this process into their own work environment.
No art experience is necessary.
|Course / Workshop content:||
Participants will engage in individual creative exercises, small group discussions, delivery of information and case examples from the facilitator and Q and A sessions.
