Event Details - Developing Emotional Awareness

Title: Developing Emotional Awareness
Type of Activity: Workshops & Seminars
Objective of Course / Workshop:

Having an emotional experience is a layered process that involves feeling, thinking, bodily sensations, and behavioural reactions and responses. Clients often present to counselling feeling unsettled about their emotional experiences. In order to help them change, they need to become “participant-observers” of their experience, beginning with having their experience, then symbolising or making meaning, before discovering the associated action-tendencies. The development of this emotional awareness is the beginning of meaningful change.

Course / Workshop content:

In this workshop we will show you how to access and work with emotional experience in order to develop a client’s awareness of their own emotional experiences and processes. We will begin with verbal techniques to access and unpack emotional experiences before progressing to the creative techniques of visualisation. The options to help clients visualise their experience enable them to further develop self-awareness; leading to both the discovering of what they are feeling and their ability to regulate their reactions. This work is an essential foundation for further Emotion-Focused work and healing.
