Objective of Course / Workshop:

The objective of the course is to train participants to learn about the public health preventive health practice of Forest Therapy towards full international accreditation as a Certified Forest Therapy Guide.

During the five-day intensive program, participants are introduced to "Forest Therapy" as a pathway to an internationally accredited qualification. Designed to take you on a journey of discovery covering decades of science and research, this training retreat introduces both theoretical and practical aspects of Forest Therapy.

Delve deep into concepts of "Shinrin Yoku" as well as the standards set in the International Core Curriculum for Forest Therapy (ICCFT). Experience the proven benefits of this healing practice for yourself, in the lush forests of the Yarra Ranges. Forest Therapy walks will be conducted at three different sites under the guidance and mentoring of international researchers and Forest Therapy practitioners.

On successful completion of the five day intensive residential workshop, participants can then progress to the six month practicum towards full certication and accreditation as INFTA Certified Forest Therapy Guide.

The INFTA Forest Therapy Introduction (HLTFTG43419) is scheduled for September 11-15, 2019. .

INFTA’s Forest Therapy Introduction comprises:

  • compact introductory workshop (40 hrs over five days)
  • theoretical and practical training
  • brief theoretical and practical examination

The five-day workshop will be conducted at the beautifully located Pallotti College, nestled away from the hustle and bustle near Warburton, Victoria. The training location comprises nearly 200 hectares of private land and forest, ideal for FTG training. The nearby unique and scenic Redwood Forest at the Yarra River, the Rainforest Gallery and O’Shannassy Aqueduct offer the finest of Forest Therapy trails in Australia, perfectly suited for an intense, secluded and effective Forest Therapy workshop.

Experience:

Dr. Dieter Kotte is the recognized expert on Forest Therapy and developed the ICCFT as the global standard for Forest Therapy. He's also the Chief Editor for the International Handbook of Forest Therapy. Dr. Kotte advises government and international organizations on Strategic Performance Enhancement.

Susan Joachim is the President of the International Nature and Forest Therapy Alliance (INFTA), Forest Therapy Guide, Mentor and Forest Medicine Practitioner. She has trained with Dr. Qing Li in Japan and continues her own CPD with the international research community. Susan brings her passion for hiking, nature connection, adult education and lifelong learning to the course. She is also passionate about connecting people to the forest and mentoring guides through their six month practicum and careers.
