Title: Working With Groups & Communities
Type of Activity: Workshops & Seminars
Objective of Course / Workshop:

Would you like to feel stronger and more confident in doing work with groups of people?

Do you aspire to have conversations that enable the people you are talking with to reflect and make decisions and actions about their own life?

This training is designed for counsellors, social/human service workers, pastoral care workers, psychologists, youth workers, students and anyone who regularly has to have hard conversations in the course of their work with groups and communities.

It offers theory, skills and tools taken from Narrative, Solution Focused and Strengths Based approaches to practice.

This 2 day training will have participants walking away with tools, skills and knowledge in how to have conversations with groups in ways that enable them to identify their collective hopes, beliefs and values, and in doing so come up with their own solutions to problems.

Course / Workshop Outline:

At the completion of the 2 day training participants will:

  • Have a sound understanding of the key concepts, principles and application of the theory underpinning post-structuralist approaches to group work;
  • Have a sound understanding of key skills used in post-structuralist approaches to group work, particularly in how to use metaphors as part of a therapeutic group process;
  • Learn how to use a tangible conversation map;
