Raymond Veldre is an experienced psychotherapist and counsellor with at Bachelor of Science in Psychology; a Graduate Diploma in Community Counselling and a Masters degree in Counselling. Since graduating, Raymond has undertaken advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Raymond is a full member of the Australian Counselling Association, and is registered with the Australian Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. Raymond is also a certified Professional Supervisor (Clinical). Honours achieved at university included the Dean Award for Excellence during his psychology studies. Following his graduation he taught undergraduate counselling at the University of Canberra for three years; was a guest lecturer in post-graduate counselling ethics and was a member of the Faculty of Health’s Counselling Advisory Group. Raymond has had broad experience in the mental health and addictions sectors. This experience includes policy development with the Mental Health Community Coalition of the ACT; mentoring with St Vincent DePaul’s Clemente Program; working with young substance dependent people with the Ted Noffs Foundation and adult substance dependent individuals at Karrlika Programs. Raymond has also worked with Uniting’s Newpin Program coaching young men to improve their parenting skills. Raymond has a Working with Vulnerable People clearance and has a current National Police Clearance. Raymond has a special interest in addictions, including the emerging issue of screen addiction. His other special area of interest includes male mental health. Raymond strongly believes men in general, and young men in particular need empathetic support to help them navigate the increasingly complex world in which we live. Raymond has also worked with grief and loss; relationships; mediation and anger management. While Raymond’s counselling approach is essentially strengths-based, he is familiar with a range of counselling modalities and is prepared to tailor treatments according to the needs of individual clients.
