Julian Heng is a Male Counsellor and founder of Remotely Counselling, an online practice supporting clients from all backgrounds (please contact remotelycounselling@gmail.com).
Why Remotely Counselling? Life throws us difficult moments. The loss of a loved one. The end of a relationship. A job loss. A move away from the familiar, into the unknown. Sometimes these difficult moments are planned. At other times, they happen unexpectedly. In such times, counselling can be incredibly helpful, to take stock - how you feel, how you think, and what’s really important. To you.
At Remotely Counselling, I am here for you in your difficult moments. To listen, to talk. I provide you with a safe place to talk through things that you might not want to with others. I bring to our sessions a wealth of life experience and professional training in counselling therapy, to support you as you find your way through the difficult times in your life. I am here for you. To listen, to talk.
Remotely Counselling is an online practice open to everyone, as well as to (1) clients experiencing grief and loss; (2) clients with Cultural and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds; (3) clients with loved ones living with a neurogenetic condition.
Who am I: I am a male counsellor/mentor with a person-centred approach, practising with significant personal and professional life experience.
I understand what it is like to: (1) come to terms with grief and loss experienced with the death of a loved one from illness and disease; (2) face cultural challenges in grief and loss, and bereavement; (3) experience difficulties coping with genetic and neurological diseases; (4) manage everyday life and its unique challenges, such as when moving to and from cities and countries; (5) experience issues of identity (leaving home, acculturation) as a first generation migrant; (6) experience mid-life malaise as a 'sandwich generation' parent.
I have professional experience as: (1) an expatriate worker with 18+ years' experience across government, academic, university, education, not-for-profit sectors; holding diploma, graduate and postgraduate degrees; (2) a scientist leading grant-funded, multidisciplinary healthcare teams to discover over half a dozen genetic causes of neurological conditions, including epilepsy, autism and neurodegeneration; (3) mentoring more than three dozen staff and students towards their chosen careers.
Julian welcomes referrals from fellow ACA member counsellors as well as professionals registered with the Australian Register of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (ARCP).
Julian works with clients from Australia, the UK, Europe and Asia.
