I am a caring, empathetic, ethical and professional counsellor who can deleiver private practice counselling services at Nurture & Grow Counselling Service throughout Sydney, or face to face Caringbah NSW, 2229. Assessible to all persons.
I specialise in disability counselling – all ages ages (7+) and specialise in counselling young adults (18-25 years). NDIS plan manager & self managed supported.
I also provide generalist counselling services to all persons outside of my specialist areas from ages (18+)
All services can be provided: face to face counselling in a private therapy room (appt only) or mobile services (come to you: home, work, park) or sessions can be provided via online counselling or telephone counselling.
I hold a bachelor degree in counselling, a diploma in Management, Cert IV in Youth work, Cert IV training & assessment, Cert III Children Services, Mental Health First Aid, First Aid & CPR. I continue to build my therapy skills by regularly attending academic training, clinical supervision, and academic research.
Along with my professional academic training and achievements, I have over 14 years of working in the Social and Community Sector including;
- I have over 9 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults within the NDIS scheme, leading a team of disability support workers, running organisation programs, training staff and students in person-centred support practices, building social and interpersonal skills, developing interpersonal relationships, life skills, working toward recovery and maintaining recovery, mentoring and building employment skills.
- I have over 5 years experience working with children, young people and young families in various case management roles within the homeless service sector with clients complex needs, grief and loss, trauma, family relationship breakdown, homeless, unemployment, immigration, depression, personality disorder, PTSD, crisis, anxiety, addictions and interpersonal relationship issues.
I believe each person has specific needs and goals, as such the therapeutic supports and interventions should be adapted to the person, whilst factoring in all elements of a person's life such as; biology (genes), your development, psychological health, socioeconomic situations, family, cultural backgrounds, religion/spirituality and social and emotional connections.
I believe in integrative counselling and psychotherapy approaches work best and will draw upon a range of Person-Centred Therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Individual Psychology, Reality Therapy, Psychodynamic, Family Systems, psychoeducation and social-emotional skills training.
