Professor Shannon Hodges
Bio and Qualifications:
I have 28 years teaching experience at the university level and have also served as director of a university counseling centre and clinical director of a community mental health clinic. I have taught at universities (U.S. and Australian), consulted and trained internationally (South Africa, Outback Australia, Central America, Indonesia, etc). My counselling experience exceeds 20 years in community mental health and university counselling centres. My professional publications include counseling books, professional journal articles, and other monographs. I have also published two mystery novels with a counsellor as protagonist. My hobbies include running, weight training and most especially global travel.
Regarding my therapeutic approach, I work from an integrated Cognitive approach with an affinity and a focus on revising self-talk for healthier thinking and behaviour. I also integrate interventions from other approaches including Solution-Focused, Gestalt, and Existential therapy.
