Dr Dawn Macintyre
Bio and Qualifications:
Dawn has extensive experience in working with challenging clients who present with complex relationship issues, domestic violence, anxiety, depression and chronic pain. She has helped clients from the same family over 3 generations, a testament to her ability and the trust that her clients have in her professional support.
Dawn completed her doctorate at UQ in 2014, researching the gaps in psychosocial support for families who suffered stigmatised grief as a result of their child having fatally drowned. She is passionate about giving a voice to those people that slip through the cracks, or where traditional support has left them still searching for answers.
Dawn is a chronic pain sufferer and for 4 years between 2013 and 2017 she was hospitalized for over a year and basically house bound due to her chronic pain. Dawn now specializes in supporting sufferers and carers who live with chronic pain and is determined to expand the conversation about the psychosocial gaps in support for those who have non-disease related chronic pain. It’s a stigmatised, often invalidated condition and Dawn believes this needs to change.
