Bio and Qualifications:
David Nugent is founder of the Heavy M.E.T.A.L (Men’s Education Towards Anger & Life) Group and works as a counsellor/psychotherapist. He is also a facilitator for the Heavy M.E.T.A.L Men’s Behaviour Change Program and works at Secondary Schools helping teenagers. David has been involved in men’s programs for twenty-five years and has over 4000 hours facilitating Men’s behaviour Change Programs.
David is committed to offering support to women dealing with abuse and its affects. The Heavy M.E.T.A.L Group program also offers women support with the struggles they have with their partner. The program fundamentally aims at empowerment which is the beginning of healing from the oppression of abuse and violence. The program for women provides a safe place for women to connect with each other to ease isolation, share information, raise awareness, heal by developing coping and recovery skills, and plan for a life free from abuse. The women who attend this program are making changes in their lives and are breaking the effects the cycle of violence has on themselves as well as their children.
